Buffering doesn't always mean you need faster internet. It can happen because of weak signal, network congestion, or an issue with the streaming service.
Try these fixes in order
- Test another streaming app. If only one app buffers, the service or device may be responsible.
- Check your connection speed. Test near the TV or streaming device as well as near the router.
- Use Ethernet if available. A wired connection is usually best for stationary TVs and gaming consoles.
- Reduce congestion. Pause large downloads and check whether multiple people are heavily using the connection.
- Improve coverage. Move equipment, adjust Wi-Fi placement, or look into mesh Wi-Fi for distant rooms.
Should you replace the router?
Only after you've checked speed, range, and device performance. If wired speed is fine but wireless performance is unreliable, the router or home Wi-Fi layout deserves attention.
Looking for better coverage?
Before buying new equipment, identify whether the issue is your internet service, router placement, or wireless coverage.
